Passover

Today is the Jewish Holy day of Passover.
A day Jesus kept holy and I feel I am remiss as a believer in my Jewish savior ( Jesus) to not at least acknowledge the great deliverance he accomplished in his pre-incarnate state of being. I was not brought up keeping this day sacred and it was barely mentioned by most Christians (even now).
This is as good a link as any for brief over view but happy passover to my Jewish friends and progenitors

Personally we plan to feast today have communion and eat unleavened bread for the next 7 days as God asked the Jews to do to commemorate the last plague on Egypt which lead to the freeing of Israel. that Old Testament historical event is repeated in the new testament by Jesus our Passover Lamb slain so the Death angel now passes over every true believer who loves God and keeps his commandments.

The new testament Passover is now memorialized by the communion and washing of the saints feet annually or "as often as we drink that cup ...:

1Cr 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

Jesus is our Passover lamb prepared by God for our every sin:

Jhn 1:29

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the
sin of the world.
Now we do not apply this blood to our outward homes ; doors and windows ; but rather the blood of Jesus is applied to our hearts in obeying the words of Jesus, God, and his spirit; and loving him and our neighbor; in gratitude to Jesus for his sacrifice so that we can have life.

Rev 12:17

And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which
keep the
commandments of God,

and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

I have said it before

The King of Nineveh said...

There is a difference between the ten commandments and everything in scriptures and the bible. Deu 9:10 And the LORD delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them [was written] according to all the words, which the LORD spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.
written with the finger of god. not inspired word. flawless. not to be ever compromised or changed.
it will never be OK to murder, steal, commit adultery,...etc. perfect. the commandments contain the character of God. and Jesus our perfect example was a Jew and kept the seventh day from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. Mathew 15:3 if there was a Jew going to the temple on Sunday as a sabbath I don't want to imagine the ridicule he would have faced or if Christ told the Jews Sunday was the new sabbath just use your imagination on how fast he would have been rejected. The catholic church proudly takes credit for this historical change not Jesus or any of his disciples or converts

The King of Ninevah said...

the holy days and feasts were also called Sabbaths but they are again different from the weekly sabbath that commemorates creation and is celebrated by our creator.

keeping the commandments is not about salvation Jesus took care of that. keeping the commandments is about loving god more than self, life, traditions of men, church, religion, friends; it's about pure truth unashamed obedience to the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I submit the whole book of first john. 1john2:3, 4, 5-7; chapter 5: verse 2 and 3; 2john1:9; 2john1:6 ; Mathew 5:17 goes with 2john 1:9. it is not a matter of Law vs grace it is grace creating a love that embraces law and kisses it ;grace loves through failure; past failure; in-spite of failure; grace defeats only one law...the law of sin and death. we no longer have to die when we fail but we fail if we die not loving the creator who is Love.
keeping the law is about loving God with our obedience which is better than sacrifice

The King of Nineveh said...

the fourth commandment commemorates the creation and is celebrated weekly by the creator like my birthday which is tomorrow April 1, 2011 celebrates the creation of me. no one can change my birthday or the day god rested.

My Testimony

In 2007 The Presence of God came into my room and asked me why I don't keep the Ten commandments.

I was offended.
" I don't break any commandments".
what about the fourth?
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh ( I said)
and so i began keeping it and have been blessed ever since and blessings and miracles have followed.

I continue to go to church on Sundays as well and give God everyday I use the example Jesus left us by his life and words to teach me what the mind of God is about his commands

1Jo 5:3

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
Obedience to the law is not being under the law. otherwise it is okay to kill (the sixth commandment) or to worship idols (the second commandment )...etc. We can not do away with the old testament as Jesus taught:

Jhn 7:18
He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

Jhn 8:55
Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.

Every believer should have a testimony of the relationship they have with God not just a church or denomination.
no believer should just accept teachings that are tradition over the commandment of God almighty and his Christ Jesus.
Mat 5:17

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Christs' fulfillment is our perfect example.

Eph 4:13

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Christ is our example and goal for perfection. We keep lowering the standard to what we want it to be.
more on all this later sleepy now.
